B-17F Template

The B-17F was the workhorse of the USAAF's early bombing war in both Europe and the Pacific. While it was an evolution of the B-17E and looked much like it (except for the new unframed nose cone), there were a few significant changes. The most important change was the fitting of "paddle blade" propellors which provided much better performance, especially at altitude. It was also the first model that was built by more than just Boeing. The Boeing-Douglas-Vega production pool turned out a total of 3,405 B-17F bombers before production switched to the G model in late 1943.

They served in all theaters of the war, although they are best known for their service in the Eighth Air Force. Some of the most famous WWII bombers were B-17Fs. Memphis Belle - first crew to finish 25 missions; Hell's Angels - first B-17 to finish 25 missions; Berlin Sleeper II - first B-17 to complete 100 missions.

This template is designed to work with the unmodified B-17F from IL-2/1946. It will 'work' on the flyable B-17F Mod, but the cheek windows will not be aligned correctly.
