I see... as we're getting a summer map as well I hope the map limits would include Market Garden, which may be viable if we get the Li-2 to use as a stand-in for the C-47.

Market Garden would be interesting. Did Allied fighters and fighter-bombers already fly from Belgian airfields during this time or were they still based in the UK?

Sorry to say I don't know the precise answer to that, but I had a quick search online for the location of 2nd TAF squadrons at the time and from what I could find many were based in northern France and southern Belgium.

The latest announcement was quite a surprise:
https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/32254-announcing-battle-bodenplatte-flying-circus-tank-crew-and-mo/

- Operation Bodenplatte instead of Midway as next Il-2 title
- RoF 2.0
- Tank pack + Prokhorovka map
- etc.

Hi guys,

just noticed these upcoming IL2 games and i have to admit, that all three of them are realy interesting for me - finaly a western front part, beautiful

Now I've had some time to process it I'm a lot more enthusiastic about BoBP, in fact given the amount of hype and discussion it has caused on the BoX forums (seemed like it drowned out any interest about the forthcoming BoK release for little while) makes me think it's probably a good decision by the devs.
I'm not sure about the tank game (tanks aren't my thing) but I reinstalled RoF a little while ago and am enjoying it so RoF 2.0 could be fun.

As a tank fan, I would love to see a realistic ww2 tank sim, but I think "Tank Crew" will be just a vehicle pack (+a small map) mostly aimed at the multiplayer guys. I've tried to build some single player tank missions in BoS and it didn't worked very well, mostly because of the simplified ground unit AI.
I would love to be proven wrong, but I doubt the developers have the time and resources to create all the features and AI improvements for a real tank sim.

I´ve played tanks vs. tanks a lot in the past in "Red Orchestra" and a realistic tank sim would be a very nice sideline of the Il2 game. Let´s see what will happen, i´m eager to give it a try.

Here's a good overview of the current situation regarding tanks in the game.

I've only tried it a few times, but in multiplayer tanks are a lot of fun in BoX. Damage model is somewhat simplified, but aiming is mostly realistic.

One of the problems in single player mode is, that the AI doesn't recognize obstacles. Which means it will try to fire at enemy tanks behind hills and it will drive into houses or other vehicles. Moreover the ground unit AI can't make its own decisions like AI planes, so every movement needs to be carefully scripted.

No doubt you've already seen it but the latest Dev Diary includes some info about the tank game: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/168-developer-diary/page-5#entry549888

On another note, they're having their holiday sale at the moment which is nice, I didn't buy any BoX content but did get some RoF aircraft which is fun
