414 Sqn RAF Mustang I Skinpack

These are 4 'marked' and one generic skin of Mustang Is from RAF 414 Squadron with correct serial numbers and codes. The paints used by the Mustang squadrons during mid-late 1942 were Dark Green and "Mixed" Grey over Medium Sea Grey. Mixed Grey was not an official color but rather a local mixture of Medium Sea Grey and Night paints. As such, there were mumerous variations seen on aircraft. The yellow leading edge identifiaction stripes were sometimes painted nearly the entire length of the wing rather than from the outmost gun port to wingtip as specified. The 12" wide yellow ID stripes across the wings were an added ID feature used only between July and December 1942 and were not very popular as they made the high-performance Mustang a little too conspicuous!

414 Sqn was a Canadian squadron, which is indicated by the Maple Leaf insignia carried on nearly all of their aircraft. RU*M AG470 was the plane flown by F/O Hollis Hills, who scored the first Mustang kill of WWII. He shot down a Fw-190A on 19 Aug 1942 while flying in support of the Dieppe raid in France. RU*F AG375, was flown by Holis' wingman, F/L F.E. Clarke.

These skins are intended for the Mustang I mod plane, but will still work very well on the stock P-51B/C models.
