The 1st Commando Group was a composite unit comprised of squadrons of P-51A Mustangs, C-47 Skytrains, L-1s and L-5s, CG-4 Waco gliders and one squadron of 12 B-25H Mitchells. This mix of aircraft was intended to provide a self-contained support unit for ground operations in Burma. They all were painted with the 1st ACG's distinctive diagonal white stipes that wrapped completely around the fuselage. While the original 12 B-25s were all OD/Neutral Gray, there were some bare metal planes that were used mainly for night intruder missions. On these later aircraft, the stripes were painted Insignia Blue.
