Albatros DVa Ritter von Schleich (dull/worn)

Author Boelcke
Description Albatros DVa, Jgr. 8, Eduard Ritter von Schleich - known as the Black Knight - spring 1918

The Albatros fighters were known for their glossy appearance on the fuselage. The fuselage of these planes were factory painted with brushes, that´s the reason why. Some units painted their planes over, to get the rid of this glossy look.

I tried to give this plane from Eduard Ritter von Schleich a dull and war weary appearance. It was flown with JGr. 18 in spring 1918. The plane was painted all over, with struts and spinner in black. On both sides was the over-painted insignia from Schleich, the edelweiss, shining through. The wings were painted in the 1918 Lozenge camp pattern.
