Description | This is a repaint of Mosquito FB.40 A52-70 from 5. O.T.U. RAAF Williamtown lost on 16 April 1945 near Barrington Tops, Australia.. The FB.40 is an Australian build Mk.VI. The plane was flown by Pilot FLT A Warren and FOFF G Bidstrup. George Fergusson Bidstrup, is a decent to one of my wifes ancestors, who emigrated to Australia in about 1845. A52-70n/aFB.4014/03/45 2 AD. 04/04/45 5 OTU. 16/04/45 One of four Mosquitoes on a routine cross-country flight to Moree, A52-70 did not return to Williamtown. Search aircraft failed to locate A52-70. In 01/46 wreckage was discovered in the Barrington Tops National Park and a coroner's inquest decided A52-70 had flown into trees during fog or cloud. (Lever p.60).
