B-17F Assembly Ships

Description This very small skinpack contains 2 skins for a couple of relatively rare planes - B-17 Assembly Ships. Assembly ships were usually outdated or "war weary" planes that were stripped of armor and guns and painted in bright patterns to help airplanes in heavy Bomber Groups find the correct formation to join up with over England. Once the group's formation was complete, the assembly ships flew back to base. They were pretty common in the groups using B-24 Liberators, but for some reason they were almost non-existant in the B-17 groups.

41-9100 FR*U "Birmingham Blitzkrieg" was actually a B-17E, but I have used the B-17F template since in game terms, it's a better fit. This plane was flown by the 379th Bomb Group as an assembly ship and target tug.

42-3441 "Spotted Cow" was originally named "Patches II" and flew 61 combat missions before becoming an assembly ship.
