P-51D 15th Fighter Group Skinpack

Description The first group of "Sunsetter" P-51s of the 7th Fighter Command, the 15th FG actually operated from newly captured airfields on Iwo Jima while the Marines were still in the process of capturing the island! The group naturally flew ground support missions on Iwo and also against other targets in the Bonin Islands. They later flew escort for B-29 raids and fighter sweeps against the Japanese home islands.
