Prenzlau Dora's

Description Prenzlau-Dora's - FW 190D-9s of the Gruppen Stab of IV./JG 3

The theme for the FW 190 Dora's of this skin-project revolves with the few known variants flown by the Stab of IV./JG 3 from Prenzlau in March 1945. Information of the aircraft visual appearance is based mostly on interpretations of three B/W photographs from the Jagdwaffe series, 'War in the East 1944-1945 by Christer Bergström and Martin Pegg' but also on a couple of colour profiles from the 'walk around FW 190D-9 by Squadron Signal publication','Kagero publishing' and the French 'Planes and Pilots series, FW 190 by D Breffort and A Jouineau'. All these publications held varying interpretations of what these machines looked like. So what I did basically was just picking up the best of the available information, combined that with my ideas and interpretations and worked from there and so, the skins you see here is what happend. Again, this was not so much an effort to recreate 100 percent historically accurate replicas of aircraft as it was an attempt to revive a few selected aircraft which have until now been in existence only in old photographs. I find it very facinating that we have the ability to revive these old flying machines from the photos this way and put them back, though only in virtual reality form, to the air flying like they once did 70 years ago. Blank skins included in the pack.
