I just updated from DBW to VP's modpack, & it is just awesome.
The graphics,are stunning although I prefer the old water,(which I simply deleted the water file) & the AI in 4.12 that I read so many posts about ruining the game.
Have in fact IMO improved it. I got taken out by a P-47 today, by my own stupid flying!

It really is a fantastic pack.
With this I can only presume IL-2 will remain for the foreseeable future as the top flight SIM.

I found it hard to come back to Il-2 1946 after playing BoS for almost two years, mostly because of the graphics.

I took a quick grab of a B-17 I had just mauled, on Sunday.

His P-47 escort nailed my arse shortly afterwards.
The whole package is easy to install, and runs very smoothly.
It looks sounds & feels a lot more real.

Any way re-flew the mission from Sunday, & that P-47 bounced me again, never saw him coming but did a Hi YO-YO and he is now a guest of "The Third Reich" . But took a few scratches!

I use Track IR5.

The more I fly this the more impressed I get.
It will never compete with BOS as far as graphics, but if you have not flown IL-2 in a while, download it & give it a whirl.

You will not be disappointed.

And just to see how bad the AI are I have tested it on some old missions, they are more realistic, but if you use your aircraft strengths, against them you can still kill them pretty easy, they are no match for a good player/pilot.

From this morning, coming over enemy lines took a "Flak" hit.

The oil on the canopy, is more realistic.
Headed for the nearest friendly airfield, jettisoning the canopy, so I could see better.
