12 years agoTue Jul 03 2012, 12:03pmMain AdminWanted to do it for ages and just started to rework the Me 210/410 template at the weekend, here some first results:
still a lot of small things to do -
12 years agoTue Jul 03 2012, 01:19amLevel 1FANCY WORK, D!
I'm loving it, mate
The Me 210/410s are not my favorite plane to fly, but I LUV seeing them in game...especially with templates and skins done well. You're doing some fantastic work...looking forward to the finished skins from the revised template.
Now, it's time for 'nit-pickerey'...lol. Nothing too bad, don't worry mate! I know this is a WIP...so don't take what I'm saying too hard (I do this:
:dash:
...whenever Rudi Jaeger responds to my WIP threads... :sarcastic: ).
The exhaust / dirt on the underwings / engine cowling seems a bit excessive. I'd tone it a back a little (I know...coming from the guy who slathers everything in muck - crud - and fungus that has to be funny. In some way )
Anyhow...keep up the good work bud!
Looking forward to some skins from this build!
Cheers,
KC -

Nice work Detlef! On the other hand, I like the exhaust stains, if only because they lend a 'fire breathing hot rod' appearance. Although historically speaking, Keith may have a point; I'm not that familiar with 410's. We need photos. If it's any consolation, I have seen similar stains on C-130's.. big turbo props of course.
The only potential glitch I can spot, is on the port engine nacelle (upper portion near the prop spinner): It appears that a cammo splotch is chopped off at the seam of an adjacent 3D panel.. perhaps near the intake as well; it's difficult to see, but it appears there is a straight edge at the top of the splotch.
..oh, one last thing; the nav light lenses.. they seem a bit bright IMO.
Of course you may already be aware of these things, but that's the beauty of posting WIP picks so we can get more eyes on your project before the skins are released.
Other than that, super job! I'm looking forward to adding these to my collection.
Thanks for the work you are doing! :good: -
Main Adminwell guys, i?ve asked the big oracel called google and found these pictures concerning the exhaust stain ...

12 years agoMain AdminOne has to remember the Germans fuel, was synthetic, made from "Brown Coal" this is why a lot of German so called losses, were in fact the exhaust trails from the engines at high RPM.
Which Allied pilots/gunners mistook for a damaged aircraft. -

Detlef, thanks for posting the photos; there certainly is some considerable exhaust staining.
Alan, I had not considered the use of synthetic fuels in Luftwaffe aircraft; thanks for mentioning. Makes we wonder what their advanced performance aircraft could have achieved with higher octane fuels.
Here's an interesting article I found after Duggy sparked my curiosity:
The Role of Synthetic Fuel In World War II Germany
"The hydrogenation plants are our most vulnerable spots; with them stands and falls our entire ability to wage war. Not only will planes no longer fly, but tanks and submarines also will stop running if the hydrogenation plants should actually be attacked."
Field Marshal Erhard Milch, summer of 1943. -
