AdminSaturday the 7th my daughter and I went to the Planes of Fame Museum for a discussion on the 506th Fighter Group - 462nd Fighter Squadron, who flew the P-51s. Present were two pilots of the 462nd Fighter Group Bill Ebesole wingman for J.J. Grant and Ed Linfante leading the discussion of the fighter groups recall of the Extra Long Range Missions was the son of J.J. Grant Robert Grant. It was an inspiring discussion of what these heroes went through on the Long Range Missions. The fighter Group was based on Iwo Jima and flew cover for the B-29's on the way to Japan.
The attached photos are of the P-51 "DOLLY", also known as flown by J.J. Grant. The gentlemen standing in front of "DOLLY", Also known as "Spam Can" are L to R, Bill Ebesole, wing-man for J.J. Grant, Robert Grant son of J.J. Grant and Ed Linfante pilot of the 462nd.
