I was wondering (and maybe I missed it) but whose template are you using here?
I am just curious--

12 years agoThu Aug 23 2012, 06:43pmLevel 1Hello all!
I am in need of opinions.. please how close would you guys say this is? I see light front, darker middle, lighter rear of cowl. With
somes mottles. I try to duplicate as best as I could.
Critiques/suggestions most welcomes.

12 years agoAdminWow; considering the focus/graininess of the photo you worked from, I'd say the patterns are a pretty good match. Nice job!
I don't consider myself an RLM expert, so it's difficult to comment on the possible color shades. Although the yellow appears to favor a little too much 'lemon' IMO.
Something else I just noticed in your previous screens: It's the fuselage Balkan Kreuz; see how the top appears to be angled? I'm not sure if it's due to the angle of the aircraft, or if there is some stretching happening in that area. Even in the sideview, the upper right corner appears to angle slightly upward, and the angled views only exaggerate the angle. Thankfully, it's a simple experiment to apply a little 'counter-angle'. Perhaps make a few versions of the marking using different degrees of angle, until you determine the one that appears best in-sim.
Oh, and you've got a red antenna wire; but for all I know about Luftwaffe aircraft, this could be correct.
I know you've dedicated much time toward getting everything correct on this skin, which is very commendable. I'm sure some additional feedback will follow soon; always good to get more eyes on a project.
Have fun mate! ~ Rudi -
Level 1Oh yes, I fix the Balkankreuz a little time ago. The original template I got was to large, so I make my own. The red antenna wire is suspose to be a copper color.. I will try and fix more. Thanks for review!
Not so factory fresh...

I was curious if that might be the case, but then I thought they may have been insulated; but then I suppose that's the function of the little ball on the wire.. it's an insulator, so really no need for a 'coated' wire.
So I wonder if any 109 was ever in service long enough for the copper to take on a green color from oxidation? But then I would imagine that any self-respecting ground crew would have kept that from happening anyway.
Interesting little detail you've got there.
Edit: btw, those stencils look great (readable). I've never skinned a 109 to be familiar with the size of the model, but at first glance, I'd think you were skinning at 2048X2048. -
Level 1Hi there,Looking very good. May I offer a little bit of advice Your inboard flaps have a lot of scrape and dirt.
Those flaps were never made to stand on.They were not meant to take the pilot or crewman's weight
The pilot boarded with his right foot first into the lower kickplate then top hand grip and left foot on the inner wing root often time with a bit of help from his crew chief.
The inside of those flaps was operated by a scissors type mechanism and most always early and late 109' flap interiors were painted RLM 02
I hope this is helpfull.
All The best,

Looks like back to drawing board for radiator flaps:
