Level 7Hi,
I thought I'd ask your opinion first. I'd like try a 2 skin pack based on Phas3e's Dogfight Double-skin pack idea. It was a great idea, and to me since I can't make big packs anymore, making a twin pack would be a nice compromise: Not a real big pack but not a single skin thing either. My idea would not be to create skins only for the opposing forces. I might also make a dual skin project with different A/C or unit, but within the same nationality. What do you think? Here's an example. Twin pack no.1, ready to go if you approve:

AdminI think it's a great idea... I may have to "borrow" it myself, if you don't mind... The idea of doing planes from the same side is cool too- like Goodwood's old "Schwarmpacks." You could do something like a leader and his wingman, too.
Also, just curious, what's the story with the red on the P-51's tail? I've never seen one painted that way before. -
Level 1Hi Emel,
I think it's a great idea. So I "approve". But then I would like it also if you want to make single skins, or triple packs, or quadruple packs, or packs with planes in whatever other numbers. I like your work very much, and I would welcome any contribution in skin making you do.
But in the end, this has nothing to do with what I (would) like. We're spending time with Il-2 because it is fun. And you yourself determine in what way you have the most fun. So, if you would like to make Twin Packs: then that's what you should do, regardless.
Hope you're having fun,
and with kind regards,
Ikarushin -

Since my attempt to skin the 'skipper' was torpedoed by lack of sufficient visual information, with a heavy hart I swiched to K-5E as its purpose was similar to 'Black 12'. And now comes a slight anticlimax. Scouting units in which K-5E 414375 belonged had the task of flying ahead the heavies and report up-to-the-minute local wheather conditions. Not such a glamorous job, nonetheless important and not necessarily without danger either.
These wheather A/C wore special markings. The A/C were provided by the resident fighter group on whose station the scouting unit was based. Honington was the base of the 364th FG, therefore you can see the alternative markings combined with the usual 364th FG blue-white stripes.

Yes they were.
I know of at least one re-con pilot that became an ace.
Some were also lost too flak.
Not a "walk in the park" that's for sure.
But I think these double packs are a great idea.
Edit scroll down too page 58.
