I do not create own templates so it will depend much on availabilty of such if i will try to make such highres skins.

An excellent looking skin surely doesn't depend on a 2048 resolution, like many
highly talented skinners proofed so far.
Highres skins are meaning much more work - and therefore a lesser number of skins finished in time.
Whatever your opinion - it means each skinner and mission builder will have to specialize. Making my skinpacks in two or even three (4096 res) different resolutions would most likely require a (paid) fulltime skinning job.
Surely i'd like to make my skins suitable for as many players as possible.
In general i fear this mod will drive template makers/skinners, mission builders (do we still have so many talented ones?) and players apart again, like many different modpack/patch versions already do.

Your feelings are pretty much mine. The problem is
rebuilding new Templates. Not sure if it is worth it. Armin sure has a point.
