11 years agoMain AdminHard to believe F-16's are being used as drones.
A QF-16 Full Scale Aerial Target from the 82nd Aerial Targets Squadron flies over the Gulf of Mexico during its first unmanned flight at Tyndall Air Force Base Sept. 19. The 82nd ATRS operates the Department of Defense?s only full-scale aerial target program. The QF-16 will provide a more accurate representation of real world threats for testing and training. AdminHarder to believe all the QF-4s are all used up.

A Finnish F-18 Hornet rejoins the fray during the Arctic Challenge exercise Sept. 24, 2013, over Norway. The F-18 played on the Blue side during this day?s particular scenario, while an opposing Red side played the role of air-to-air aggressors. (U.S. Air Force photo by 1st Lt. Christopher Mesnard/Released)
A Swedish JAS-39 Gripen returns to the play areas of the Arctic Challenge exercise Sept. 24, 2013, over Norway, after taking on fuel from a U.S. Air Force KC-135R Stratotanker. The JAS-39, in coordination with aircraft from other nations, formed a Blue assault force, which had to bypass or neutralize an opposing Red force attempting to stop them from an overall objective outlined in the day?s scenario. F-15C Eagles from the 48th Fighter Wing prepare to return to their simulated air combat portion of the Arctic Challenge exercise Sept. 20, 2013, over Norway. 11 years agoMain AdminFunny how the press made such a big deal about the F-16 drone, considering this has been going on for decades.

"The F-22 flagship for the 192nd Fighter Wing, the Virginia Air National Guard unit at Langley AFB, sported a blue nose in preparation for its annual joint Maintenance Professional of the Year Award Banquet, held in conjunction with Langley?s active duty 1st Fighter Wing on 12 March 2010. The F-22?s nose was prepared as a tribute to blue noses worn used during World War II by the 328th Fighter Squadron. Stationed in Bodney, England, during the war, the unit, nicknamed the Blue Nosed Bastards of Bodney, flew P-51 Mustangs and was led by Maj. George E. Preddy, Jr., the sixth highest scoring American ace (inset). Preddy recorded 26.83 victories in several Mustangs, all named Cripes-a-Mighty." (photo Lockheed Martin)
