11 years agoMon Dec 03 2012, 08:28pmLevel 4A very nice day to all at A&A; having been served very well over here, see requests on Bf-110 and He-111, I now would like to ask if one of the resident artists would like to make accurate skins for the Il-2 Shturmovik.
This week I re-discovered the beautiful, well researched articles by Massimo Tessitori at
http://mig3.sovietwarplanes.com/il-2/il-2.htm
Massimo describes the development of the plane and its camouflage so good, I have downloaded these files imediately as I want to have acces to them at all time. There are many photo's and large colour 3-views of all versions, and as there are not that many good Il-2 skins, it seemed a good idea to post this request.
Thanks for reading. -
AdminHi henkypenky,
Although I'm not in a position to skin the IL2 myself at the moment (hopefully someone else is) I just wanted to say "thanks" for the link, that's a nice site! -
Level 3Henky, you might want to check out PK's skins over at Mission4Today. He has produced exellent, accurate skins for the various marks of IL2.

Level 4Thanks for response guy's, doesn't make me feel I'm the only one in this. IMHO the best Il-2 skins - for the plane, not the game - are the ones by DiMu and Bomber over at Aviaskins, but these are mostly blanks. So I thouhgt that the skinners here, with Massimo's info ....

Personally I find Philk's skins are not accurate at all, but mass produced, and he does not take that little bit of extra time, that make's all the difference IMO.

And beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But the style from both PhilK and vpmedia are not what I like on the Il-2. Try DiMu's and you'lle see what I mean.
! I'm not suggesting that anyone is pissing someone off here, but I don't know a better expression, thats all. -

thx man, for this realy positive attitude - that?s the way to handle our hobby in my opinion also

Level 3My view also, we all have our personal taste in skins. In my experience the best skinners welcome constructive criticism, but simply dismissing a whole body of work because that work does not conform to ones personal, subjective taste is a pointless exercise. If I don't personaly like a skinners work then I don't comment on it.
