Flying with Arthur Godfrey (& CPT Rickenbacker): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6VfkKjlhXs
Found this video while browsing some vintage airline footage. It features CPT Eddie Rickenbacker, Medal of Honor recipient and then president of Eastern Airlines, flying his Spad in 1953 ( fast forward to 5:30 for WWI narrative; 1953 footage begins @6:30 ).
"Sitting at 20,000 feet with the sun at my back, waiting for the enemy Fokkers to come around"
And if you like Constellations, it's fun to watch what follows. I never knew that the nose gear strut of the Connie doubled as a phone booth! This video also features the legendary Eastern pilot, CPT Dick Merrill. -

This goes to show you how old I am.
When I was I think around four years old My Mom took me on my first flight.
That aircraft was a Air Canada Lockheed Connie from Toronto to New York.
Just before I went over to Vietnam, myself and two other Sgt's were sent to Texas to pick some Ambulance drivers at Fort Sam Houston. There M43-A1 cracker box ambulances had already been sent ahead to Oakland. We flew to San Antonio from Bragg in ...you guessed it A Connie which was a civvy sequestard airline as that's how the government moved people around during the war. -
