11 years agoWed Mar 20 2013, 05:11pmAdminTonight part 3 on german TV - german mini series 'our mothers, our fathers'.
Telling the story and fate of five young friends during WWII in a never known stunning quality - both acting and filming - there is plenty of eastern front action included. Here's an example, battle of Kursk July 1943:

In an effort to hide nothing the movie shows the fate of a german jew as well as of two brothers serving at the eastern front (infantry unit), a front nurse
and a female singer (showstar) in Nazi Germany.
The movie currently is a top theme in the german TV and the newspapers, accompanied by TV discussions etc.
The first two parts were seen by around seven million people each.
I don't know if this movie will be ever shown outside of germany but if so, i highly recommend it.

11 years agoWed Mar 20 2013, 05:12pmLevel 7That was awesome. I'm certainly interested in this. Seeing the modern German point of view of what it was all about there in the front itself should be compelling not to mention quality action shots shown in your video clip. The scene also proves once again how Spielberg's Saving Private Ryan changed entirely the way war movies are filmed today. Very much looking forward to see this.

AdminIs it really worth watching? Usually I avoid watching German TV films about the second World War. Over the last years they produced a lot of mediocre or outright bad stuff.

11 years agoAdminYes it is! It's the same with me, i usually avoid all these low budget/bad actors films like 'Dresden' or 'Wilhelm Gustloff' etc.
This one is far better and with a budget of fourteen million euros fitted much more historically in each kind. Surroundings, uniforms, weapons, equipment - i've never seen this that authentical in a german TV production. Tanks like the T-34 or the Panzer IV/Tiger are made looking
really historical. Nothing is looking 'cheap' or 'factory fresh'. Great acting by young and 'fresh' actors.
Today i received the DVD from amazon.de.

AdminMaybe I will watch it, when it is shown again.
I have to admit, I am quite critical towards the whole war movie genre. They are too often full of stupid clich?s and stereotypes. In my opinion only a few are worth watching.
