I think you are correct there is quite the stink about this film in Japan.
( but rave revues in most areas)
Due to cigarettes, how times change when I was young smoking was cool.
Anyway English dubbed version next year. -

As a ex smoker who still wishes for just one more,
I have been watching a number of Pacific Documentaries and it seems that every grunt down in a hole has a entrenching tool and a lucky Strike in his hands.
I hope it will be good as the Japanese in Hollywood
movies never survive combat missions.
My only complaint is the American sounding sappy music.
