My family ran what was left of the "U-Boat Hotel" in Grizedale.
It became, & still is the " Theatre in the Forest"
At the beginning where he escapes, it is filmed on location.
Which are famous as the "Russland Beeches" , as a young boy it was where I drank my first beer?
My Great uncle owned a farm there.
Strange for me that one of the most amazing story's from WWII, is linked to my family. -

Our house overlooked RAF Cark, its still there today, known as the North West parachute center.
