12 years agoSun Apr 22 2012, 05:15pmAdminI'm sure most of us have heard the discussions over the past several days about photos of a Kittyhawk that was purported to have been found "somewhere in the Sahara". Much was made about the photos and how they lacked 'proof' of the authenticity of the claim.
Well, I think these videos should silence any doubts.

Someone on WIX has ID'ed it as a P-40E-1 CU. Best guess so far without a serial number is 260 Sqn.
The concern now becomes preserving what's left of the aircraft. These guys didn't look like they were being all that careful removing the ammo boxes and guns. Standing on the windscreen?? Scavengers and souvenir hunters should also be a major concern. I'm worried that this plane will end up stripped of nearly everything sitting in a back lot like what happened with the "Lady Be Good". -

Pity the poor bugger who flew her there though.
