Hi all, just wanted to post a few quick shots- I would post them in the WIP section, but I didn't want to get anyone's hopes up... I hadn't planned on finishing or releasing any of these due to time constraints (though I might, if there's enough demand). I've been playing around with my old Ki-43 template- made some changes to a few parts, and added a couple layers from Graf's adaptation of my template. I may end up using these in a composite screenshot or two, if I can find the time,but for now, this is what I've got. I've been working on designing album art for a CD I'm working on, and wanted to see if the techniques I've been using on that carry over to screenshots well. So far, I'm undecided...

Moreover at the moment I am looking for good generic Ki-41-I b/c skins for my Solomon Islands DGen campaign project. It would be great if I could use some of your skins.

These are too nice to languish on your hard drive. they look great. The editing techniques are a winner, too.

Depending on what kind of scene you're trying to portray, I'd suggest either being very careful of the background you're using or try composite shots where the background is replaced with a photo. Some of the terrain looks pretty good, especially on some of the mod maps (see: Redko's Tunisia repaints). Others, like the islands in your next to last shot, are just awful compared to how great the skin looks. IL2 clouds are usually a pretty good background.

Great skins, I always admired your Japanese aircraft. For some reason the Ki-43 is a favorite of mine. Well done.

Juri- I may be able to help you out with those- do you have any sentais or airframes in particular you'd like me to do? I haven't really done any research into which units were stationed where...

Jarink- thanks for the feedback! I'll admit, I wasn't really paying attention to the background at all in any of these- I was more focused on the skins, and the thought to edit and post them came as an afterthought. I'll definitely keep that in mind in the future, though! I'm also hoping to have some time to play around with composites soon- it's been awhile since I've tried anything screenshot-related!

I need two skins, one for the Ki-43-Ib and one for the Ki-43-Ic. The Ki-43 units operating in the Solomons in late 1942 and early 1943 were the 1. and 11. Sentai, but I have decided to use generic skins without the unit markings. I wasn't able to find many photos from this periode that clearly show the camouflage used by these two units, but as far as I can tell, it was mostly the standard green camo. To give some variaty one of the skins should have the green camo and the other some kind of green/brown camo pattern. The hinomaru on the fuselage needs the white outline, but the markings on the wings were without the outline. The skins should have the white combat band behind the fuselage hinomaru.

The skins in the last two screenshots already have most of the things I need, all you have to do is to remove the unit markings and add the hinomaru with the white outline.
