AdminHi all, Just thought I'd post a few pictures from this weekend- there's a lot going on- Tomorrow I officially graduate from Pacific Lutheran University, which is incredibly exciting. As an early celebration, my girlfriend and I took a trip up to The Museum of Flight in Seattle. I hadn't been there since 2007, so a lot has changed, and I was particularly excited because the last time I visited, their B-17F was not on display. As an added bonus, the EAA's B-17G, "Aluminum Overcast" was in town for Memorial Day. We arrived just in time to hear the B-17 warming up for take-off, which was an incredible sound to be greeted by! The following are just a "few" of the over 600 photos I took- Enjoy!
The F-14, one of the museum's Gate Guards"
"Aluminum Overcast" starting her takeoff run:
The Museum's main gallery:
Stearman:
A radar test-bed aircraft parked next to the museum- it has what I believe is an F-16 radome grafted onto the nose...
B-17G Landing:
Bf-109E:
P-51D:
Painted in the markings of Glenn Eagleston:
P-47D:
The Museum's F4U-1D (Actually a FG-1D- the Navy's designation for Goodyear-built Corsairs)
The "Personal Courage Wing"
Ki-43-III (replica, with original parts):
P-40N:
P-38L:
The Museum's B-29 is sitting outside, and is completely shrink-wrapped, in order to preserve it while it waits for restoration. I'd be very curious to see how that process worked!
B-17G:
Me with the B-17:
I think she's a keeper!
As I mentioned, I took over 600 photos, so if there are any planes you'd like to see some more shots of, I most likely have some! -
12 years agoAdminBeautiful shots Josh! ..and yes indeed, I'd say you've got a "keeper" there. A pretty smile, and looks like she enjoys your company, and hanging out around a bunch of old airplanes; what more could you ask? You'd better hang on to that one mate!
Thanks for sharing, and Congratulations! -
Level 1Seems like a great day out, Josh! It looks like a very nice collection, but I can't imagine that glass roof being much good for photography from certain angles :S

AdminCongrats all around, Josh!
Does anyone else think the B-29 looks like someone loaded a blank white skin in IL-2??? -
AdminNice shots Josh, a great assortment of aircraft there mate. As Rudi said I think she is a keeper too.

Yes indeed Jim. If I were on the maintenance staff, I'd be tempted to paint a panel-finder over it.. complete with all the warpage in the nose area -
Level 1Jeezz! Do you guys have anything better to do?
