Thanks to Boelcke for his wonderful weathering (I only did the wingwalk ways. Its ok i guess). Toned down the paint a little more also
for the well used N.africa climate. BTW, the exhaust staining is brilliant!

AdminCool, keep up the good work mate. One thing I would take a look at is that black walk-way at the wing roots, in that I'm 99% sure that they were only on the B and C models but not on any of the later variants... so I figure that the dark colour in that location in your reference photo is were the tan has worn away to show the OD.

For colour I use this site as a reference point:

9 years agoLevel 1Little more progress. Took HBPencil's advice and made the wing "walk" more Olive Drab. Hope it looks good, or a least authentic.
-
AdminIt's looking good to me, and I like how you've taken the time to work on the paint wear along the wing's leading edges.
As for the simulated 3D look of the panel lines, what I do is similar to what you have done except I only do it for those parts that, in real life, would be opened or removed often and so wouldn't necessarily fit flush such as the ammo bay hatches, engine cowling panels etc. Give it a try and see what you think...

9 years agoLevel 1Thanks for the tip on the panels!
Lightened the colour of the chipping. Also looking at real P-40, panel lines and
rivets are barley noticable except for hatches etc., (as per HBPencils advice) unless
your really close to the plane. Decisions, decisions.
-
Main Adminyour changes have made it look better, if you reduce the opacity of the chipping it would be look more real

It's all a matter if personal taste of course. I've found that as time goes by I've treated panels and rivets in a more subtle manner, partly because it's more realistic but also because putting in lots of detail only works if one is zoomed in close, otherwise it can look a bit too much when viewed normally as one usually does when playing the game. Having said that, plenty of players seem to like having skins of that style so it comes down to what you want from your skins.
