A 457th Bomb Group B-17 Flying Fortress performing a 'buzzjob' over Glatton airfield in the summer of 1944 after the aircraft's crews reached their 25th completed mission, and thus the end of their 'tour'.

One this week
B17G 42-31435 `Wests End` of the 384th BG suffered damage to its nose and was fitted with a fixed battery of six .50 caliber guns to be fired by the pilot in the event of a head on attack. It did fly a few operational sorties in July 1944 but suffered a crash landing before it could be used.

Taken 27th October 1943, I guess a "GEEK" decided this was interesting.
Which it is, of a P-38 Lightning of the 55th Fighter Group's, flaps etc.

Mid week bonus
Unknown too me until yesterday, the 8th Af also used Lysanders in the "Target Tug " role.

Taken in 1950 in Germany, during "Operation Rainbow", Hubert Zemke's 56th Fighter Group P-47's catch some tanks in the open.
