Admin
And the Hs-129 has been released too. -
AdminHow are you guys finding the map in regards to performance? I need to play around with the graphics settings but so far I'm finding the frame rate a bit choppy, presumably because the map is so large.
-
AdminMy frame rates are good. But I've noticed a few small graphic issues that sometime pop up at certain distances or when clouds are in front of mountains. So I guess the map still needs some fine-tuning.
-
AdminHmmm, the other maps run fine for me but Kuban is a bit slow, Must be because it's too large for my rig. My motherboard is giving me grief so soon enough I'll need to replace and upgrade a bunch of my components anyway :/

7 years agoFri Nov 17 2017, 01:41pmAdminThe latest announcement was quite a surprise:
https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/32254-announcing-battle-bodenplatte-flying-circus-tank-crew-and-mo/
- Operation Bodenplatte instead of Midway as next Il-2 title
- RoF 2.0
- Tank pack + Prokhorovka map
- etc.

7 years agoFri Nov 17 2017, 10:14pmAdminUnfortunately I'm still getting the overload error when I try view that page so what I know is what ShamrockOneFive posted on his blog and from what I can pick out of various comments on the threads.
https://stormbirds.blog/2017/11/17/il-2-developers-announce-three-new-products/
These are just my initial thoughts: I'm quite surprised by the announcement and I'm not sure how I feel about it as I have mixed feelings. I wasn't overly excited by the planned move to the PTO but as time went by I came to like the idea more and more, so now I'm a bit disappointed that it has been delayed. I expect I'll get more enthusiastic about BBP (I wish people wouldn't call it BoB, that means Battle of Britain to me!) as time goes by.
On the plus side that ETO map and late war time setting does give plenty of scope for some pretty intense action and I'm glad to see the Tempest (one of my favorites) and the P-47 will be included although I'm not so keen on the 262, to me it's a hype-train of a plane and may introduce annoying and unbalanced game play i.e. Allied aircraft excessively vulching Axis airfields and 262 drivers being borderline untouchable once they've got their airspeed up.
As for the Flying Circus and Tank Crew, I haven't given them any thought yet.
Edit: The AI B-25 is a good idea, a plane that served in just about every theater so it'll be an easy shoe-in for any other future expansions. -
AdminI love the plane set, but the choice of the map area is strange. According to Jason the Ardennes region won't be part of it. The area will be further to the north in northern Belgium and the southern Netherlands. But except for Operation Bodenplatte that lasted only a single day, there wasn't much fighting in this area in winter 44/45, both in the air and on the ground in winter.
-
AdminExcept on days when the weather was bad, the memoirs of Tempest pilots that I have read made it sound like they were quite busy from as soon as they arrived in October '44, mainly strafing ground targets it must be said. I wonder if they'll do the map with spring, summer and autumn versions as well? I can see that map as being the BoX version of the NWEurope map from IL-2 '46, a generic stand in for other areas.
-
7 years agoJason Williams said it will be summer & winter.
I'm very disappointed... -
AdminI think the RAF was very active in the Scheldt estuary region in October/November 1944, but I am not sure if this area will be part of the map. The next large ground operations only happened in February/March 1945 during Operation Veritable and Grenade.
