12 years agoFri Jun 29 2012, 01:39amLevel 1Hey everyone!
For the last two weeks I have been at a flight academy through the Civil Air Patrol. I had lots of fun meeting and getting to know lots of great people, but the greatest thing about it is that I am now certified to fly solo in a Cessna 172! I am well on my way to getting my Private Pilots' License.
Before the academy I had 5.1 hours logged, but as of right now I have 19.6 logged hours. 8.0 of those hours are cross-country and 0.6 are solo time.
Needless to say I am very excited and can't wait to get my license!
Here are some photos:

I'm envious that you are getting your license to fly! I'm one of those slackers that really wants a pilot's license, but is unable at present time to pursue it. So, I have to rely on flight-sims for my bit of aviation reality addiction. Kudos to you for getting out there and getting it done!
If you can make it out to South Carolina on a solo flight...let me know. If you don't mind, I'd like to take the controls over for a few minutes!
Fantastic work, mate. I'm really jealous!
BTW...your instructor Wes McCullough is wearing some TWA garb. My late grandfather was a TWA crew guy, who worked on P-38's during WWII. Seriously...you just gained uber-kudos from me learning from a TWA guy
Some pics of my Gramps on the tarmac...he's the second from the right in picture 1.
...he once told me that the best use for a Spitfire was an armrest. The picture above proves it! He loved his P-38s.

Level 1Thank you Casey1976, I will let you know if I'm in South Carolina!
My instructor retired from TWA some years ago. He flew all sorts of big planes to all sorts of places!
