AdminGood stuff, and it's pretty cool that you skin something that you have a familial link to.

AdminWell, I've been playing with quite a few templates over the last couple weeks- Did some work on a new Ki-61, incorporating bits from Casey's template, played with an Me-262, with more of the same, updated an old Blenheim template by Mangas, and finally settled on this one:
It's made up of bits and pieces of Jester's old public template, as well as quite a bit of new work- it had languished on my hard drive for probably six or seven years, until about a week ago. I'd never really been able to get it to look satisfactory, until I tried out a few new techniques on it this week. There's a lot of potential detailing on this template, but I'm having trouble finding some decent line drawings and other references for it, so right now, the lines and rivets are just stock. I'm seriously considering re-drawing the rivets, though, because all of my reference photos show them to be a little more spaced out, if they're visible at all...I guess I'll keep plugging away at the other details, and see if I make up my mind! -
AdminLooks good. Any plans for some Coastal Command skins?

AdminTo tell you the truth, I haven't quite gotten there yet... I finally found some good walkaround photos of the Beau, so I'm currently working on fixing all the little nitpicky details... I'm not going for 100% accuracy, but TBH, just about anything will be an improvement over the original!
Tentatively, I have plans to do some generics, and probably a pack of Australian Mk. 21s, as well as some others, if I can get my hands on some good references regarding the Beau's different paintschemes! -
AdminSome information can be found here:

AdminThat's exactly the sort of thing I was looking for, thanks!

There's still quite a few tweaks to be made before it's ready for release, but it's getting there!
So far, it's been a pretty pleasant experience- there's not a whole lot of warping or other mapping issues (save for the fact that only one nacelle is skinnable). In fact, my only complaint is the layout of the mapping- it's not hard to figure out what's what, but (for example) the nacelle is mapped in four different locations, the wing top and bottom are different scales, and the fuselage is another scale still! We work with what we have, I guess! -
AdminBtw, a few days ago someone uploaded this documentary about RAAF Beaufighters:

AdminI saw that- it was a big part of my inspiration to actually "finish" this template- there was some great footage, and some awesome stories in there! One of my favorites was the American pilot who formed up with the squad of Beaus by mistake! haha
