AdminA new w.i.p, generic SEAC Hurricane IIc TacR (Tactical Reconaissance) hack skins. I haven't found any clear shots of the vertical camera so what I've done is guess work based on a photo showing partial detail. The bump map does slightly spoil the effect slightly for the oblique camera.

AdminTime to resurrect my w.i.p thread with my old favourite subject, the PR Spitfires.
I had started this some time ago but then got a bit bored of working on it so I left it alone, however with the latest IL-2 Dev Diary stating that recon will be introduced to the sim I figured it's time to get this finished.
Anyway, here's some shots of a PR.IV hack skin to be used on the Vb. For now I'm planning to do just three generic skins; two for the RAF (one each for the ETO and MTO) and one for the VVS who operated a handful in the Murmansk area.
As you can see I used the alpha channel to hide the cannon barrels however from some angles you can just make out the edges of the muzzles, and this seems to be more pronounced when zoomed out but there's nothing more I can do about this and in any case it is subtle and you won't notice it often. I can't do anything about the large bumps over the cannon ammo drums but I have coloured the inside of the cannon ejection chutes so they don't stand out. Likewise the .303 machine gun muzzles and the armoured windscreen must also remain.
In regards to the panel lines and rivets I only had to add an extra access panel on the starboard side of the fuselage, however I redrew most of the wings and added the filler caps and release valves for the wing fuel tanks as well as the cap for the extra oil tank in the port wing. And of course I've added the faux cameras as well

AdminClever idea to remove the guns by editing the alpha channel.
I find the topic of aerial recon quite interesting. Can you recommend any books on Spitfire recon units? -
Main AdminWonderful stuff mate, nice to see you back.

Thanks! When I noticed that on the skin template that the cannon barrels are modeled separately I thought I'd give it a go and fortunately it worked.
In regards to books, unfortunately those I have are about the development and technical specs of PR Spitfires, and although operations are mentioned it's usually only broad statements e.g. first flight to Berlin, first deployment to Nth Africa etc. -
