5 years agoWIP 15.(Kroat)/JG52
-
AdminInteresting. In the past I had started a 1942 skin and campaign project for the unit, that I never finished, because I had too many other projects.
One comment - I am not sure the green color of the 12 is correct. According to Osprey's "Croatian Aces" it was in yellow.

5 years agoYes I remember your skin and your project.
It's a nice idea because we can fly on the Kuban map in 42 vs I16, a nice setplane IMO.
I read this > https://www.aircraft-navalship.com/produit/avions/3686
There are 3 photos of this Gustav #8 and one profile with green tactical marking.
The "werknumber" is known but is not painted on the tail. So may be the author of the study have got some "squad journal" with the werknumber and the mention of 8 green ??
It's hard to say viewing the pics.
I hope you can understand my frenglich^^

5 years agoMon Jun 17 2019, 07:24pmAdminAfter doing some more research, I think that green is the correct color.
The two authors of the Osprey book mention more than once that number 12 was yellow and they never mention a green number for 1943. Although on the photo of #12 the color clearly looks different than the yellow fuselage band.
I think the authors of the Osprey book are wrong. Because I found crash reports for Bf-109s of 15.(Kroat)/JG52 from 1943 and these mostly show aircraft with green numbers and only in one case a yellow number.
For example in the Osprey book Bf-109G2 #6 and #11 are shown with yellow numbers, but according to the crash reports their numbers were green.

5 years agoI wrote 8 for 12...
You're right, first Gustav 1st of July 42 but the green numbers in april/may 43. Before that, a small white number or more classical blacks numbers. -

5 years agoStill some work to do but not so much.
-
AdminIt looks very good. Will you only do green 12 or other Croatian aircraft too?
-
5 years agoYes, I think I will do others especially if it makes you want to resume your campaign!
