looking at Il2Sturmovik forum, there is an ocean of Bf 109 skins but only few are historic correct. I just want to do some historic correct generic skins, as an replacement for the standard skins in Il2 BOS for the Bf109 K4 and G14.

2 years agoWed Mar 09 2022, 03:44pmBoelckeMain AdminJust starting with the K4:
Almost all Bf109 K4 were build from the Messerschmitt factory ion Regensburg (block 330xxx) some few were produced from the Erla factory (block 570xxx) but it is still very few kown about its camouflage.
The early Regensburg Bf 109K4s wore similar camouflage to the Regensburg build Bf109 G14/AS:
In later camouflage versions with RLM 76/02/83/81 the engine was painted with RLM 77 - there are two variations
variation 1:
like many of the late 1944 and early 1945 produced german planes, they had the lower wings unpainted.

AdminGood work!
Great to know you know about late war 109 cammo, as at some time in the future I'd like to ask your opinion about the cammo scheme of a G-6 featured in a book I have. -

2 years agoSun Mar 13 2022, 02:34pmBoelckeMain AdminAfter finishing the K4 skins, there will be the G14 next:
The Bf 109 G14 was build in the Messerschmitt factory Regensburg, the Erla factory and at WNF factory.
The first skin is the Erla buiid G14 with it´s typical pattern in RLM 76/74/75, at the end of the war the RLM 74/75 was replaced with RLM 82/81

2 years agoSun Mar 13 2022, 02:59pmBoelckeMain AdminIt is difficult to say when the Bf109G6 has become the G14, cause the G14 was a standardised version, unifiying all the modifications introduced in the Bf109G6 production like the MW-50, DB 605AM engine, Erla canopy, etc.
The G14 was produced in the following blocks: 16x xxx, 78x xxx at Messerschmitt factory Regenburg, 4xx xxx at Erla factory and 51x xxx at WNF factory.
The Regensburg build G14 wore the standard camouflage RLM 74/75/76
The Erla build G14 unterwent some alterations in the course of production, from RLM 74/75/76 to RLM 76/81/82
