12 years agoSat Oct 27 2012, 10:00amMain AdminStarting with a collection of Herrmann Buchner?s Schlachtflieger skins for the Bf 109 Emil, from his book "Stormbird".
The first is the Bf 109 E7 from 8./SchG1, Crimea 1942, it?s the plane with which Herrmann Buchner flew his first combat mission ever
i?m not satisfied with the motteling yet, but it?s a good start ... i think -

12 years agoMon Oct 08 2012, 06:46amMain Adminthx m8
before doing the next i want to work on a little more ugly and weary appearance of this plane, those kites where used to the limit under very hard conditions ... working on -
Level 1Good work Amigo.
I'm also flying your aircraft in Monty's JG-53 Campaign.
You know I'm still puttering around with the idea of
creating larger skins however I'm feeling that it might be a lot of work for nothing .

Main AdminThe book from Herrmann Buchner mentioned that some of the SG 1 planes had white tail bands, does someone have sources or informations about this? on the black and white photos it?s hard to reckognize.

12 years agoWed Oct 24 2012, 07:07amAdminOh cool, I'm always keen to see another Schlachtflieger skin
As for a/c with a white band on the Eastern Front, I've had a quick look through what books I have on the Schlachtgruppen but couldn't find anything. I thought maybe the Hs129s of 8.(Pz)/SchlG 2 could've retained their MTO markings when they arrived in Russia but apparently they went to Poland first to refit and re-equip so I guess they would've removed any such markings.
Or maybe SchlG 1 received aircraft originally intended for the MTO? I don't know much about LW painting procedures so I'm just assuming that theatre bands were applied at the factory. -
