AdminI'm sure a lot of you know I've been working on a couple Havoc templates. Well, the A-20C/Boston III is nearly 'gold' and I've started on, you guessed it, modifying that into an A-20G template. It's proving a little more difficult as there's more warping to deal with on the nose (especially around the lower guns) and the rear fuselage where it bulges for the turret.
One small tidbit I've learned researching this plane is that the wing bomb pylons should be OD, not grey. At least, I can't find any photos where they aren't green! I think that little detail has been incorrect on every A-20 skin I've ever seen. Learn something new every day, I guess.
I also find myself wishing we had an A-20J model with the glass nose. I think those are the nicest looking Havocs of them all.
Boston III
A-20C
(I'm working up some 47th Bomb Group skins for the MTO. The 47th was in the habit of painting over the glass noses and mounting extra MGs up there, so some Boston IIIS (strafer) skins will probably be in order, too!)
A-20G
Test skin; this shows some of the warping to good effect.

12 years agoAdminVery well done! The sqeezing and warping on the 3D-model requires a lot of
extra effort to make the emblems and markings look well.
The circle of 'Queen Julia' seems to be a bit 'out of shape' but i don't know if you can get this look more round.

..and I never knew about the wing pylons, that's a nice find.
Did you see how the invasion stripes will align with the control surfaces differently on each wing? Fun model eh? Hard to tell from the angle, but looks like you nailed it.
Looking forward to some new G's. -
Level 1Looking great Jim! Especially like the last Scheme

AdminGreat job mate, something about the 4th one down that really catches my eye.

Level 1Jim, these are absolutely stunning works.

AdminThanks for the comments, guys!
The warping on the nose is pretty bad. Not only is it flattened out, it doesn't even flatten things out evenly! There's also some spots where the warping defies description (look closely at the bottommost set of guns)
Once I get both of the templates set up a little better, I'll try to convert them to Photoshop (I'm still mainly working in GIMP) and upload them to the private section. I'll probably also make a public version by removing some markings and weathering layers.
