11 years agoFri Apr 05 2013, 08:11amLevel 1I think you should leave those little numbers on there.
It looks so professional......and you are too mate. "Rations"?
By the way I'm working on our little plan HB.
Fantastic work on a tough aircraft to do right, and you are one of those guys
-
AdminAwww shucks, thanks mate!
I've started skinning My Darling Dorothy, it's going slowly but none the less I hope to post some screenies this week. -
AdminAnd here she is...
Although she's an early version XI without the extra fuel pumps it looks like she had her fuel cooler removed (the inlet being blanked over), I don't know why but I'm guessing they felt they could manage any fuel boiling by just climbing gently to altitude. As you can see she's rather worn and been subject to some touch-ups along with the removal of the invasion stripes, hence why the edges of the star'n'bars are looking quite rough. Something to note is that this mod has the 'universal' carburettor intake (which the vast majority of XIs had) however PA892 had the small, old-school intake.
Up next will be a late model XI for the RAF, probably PL775 'A'.

Main Admin... and she is very fine

Level 7The Spitfire just has such clean lines, elliptical and all that. This is nice work indeed. Keep it up

11 years agoMain AdminWOW wicked awesome
-
AdminCheers guys, and Emel I agree she has great lines; I feel that's why the Spit looks great in overall PRU blue as it shows those lines off rather than the shape being broken up by the standard cammo pattern.
-
AdminHere's PL775 'A'. As you can see she, like PA892, didn't have an oblique camera fitted (at least not in the photos I used as reference) and as she had a Bendix Stromberg carburettor (Merlin 70) she had the blisters covering the additional fuel pumps as well as no fuel cooler. Also, her invasion stripes had been applied with a fair amount of care and tidiness. The light streak on the outer port wing is fuel that's blown out of the overflow pipe.
I'll upload these two soon and then do some generics.
Cheers,
HB -
Main Adminvery cool Harry, a lot of nice little details
