Was there a particular reason, why the RAF did not apply roundals on the undersides of the wings?

It was felt that the roundals would compromise the effectivness of the paint scheme too much when viewed from below against the sky.

You know Harry I would love to understand why it has been so difficult to provide a drop cockpit door for the earlier Spits.
I believe Highlander did one or two varients with those options. What say you? Not sure why.

Hi Chris, sorry for this late reply. If I'm understanding you correctly then yes, I can see how I could fake the little cockpit door being open on the skin... which has got me thinking, I could also do a version with an engine panel 'removed' like it is having maintenance work done it, which is something that might be of more use now that static aircraft can have skins applied to them in FMB.

I had a little play around and this is what I've come up with so far. Works ok although the cockpit door doesn't work as well when not viewed from side on.

Well, you may be right about the door as the canopy remains closed, but the other parts: that engine and camera looks great Nice work with those.
