Level 1

10 years agoThu Jan 02 2014, 04:45pmLevel 1This grab and on the last page is pretty much finished. Possibly some grungy oil leaks and more
under skank.
I was looking at your three Tiffy's. They are all very good, and in my opinion your a very good artist. Still a paint issue.
Several more Grabs.
Perhaps some day you'll show me how to do that cranky looking spinner. Hope you come back here more often. There are a lot of talented guys here.

10 years agoThu Jan 02 2014, 04:49pmLevel 1Almost done on PR H
Several things that help this plane .
First off, I'm adding a fair bit of grunge. Stain, Exhaust
dark and light filth. What I'm attempting to do is give this aircraft it's own identity. I keep checking my photo. The H has obviously has been replaced. That is a gift for what I'm attempting to do. A bit more Scum
and almost there.
The Napier Engine was a filthy bit of work. Duggy and I were going through more photos and info last night Tiffy Pilots hooked up Oxygen prior to ignition because of carbon monoxide fumes.. That's a good thing to know.
I have to go back to photos continuously as I don't trust myself, however the end result is to put these birds together in a section and cut some grabs. Hopefully the end result will be four Typhoons that all have their own personality, still working with the same issued factury colors. -
Level 7I knew about that filthy engine. All the same problems as the Germans had with the 190A in 1939-41. There's a very good description of the behavior of the Napier-engine by Pierre Clostermann himself in the "Big Show". Looking very much forward to the finished versions - from both of you .

Level 1Cranky Spinner? the one on 5V-K?
I'm using the Template I found at M4T, its by HundertZehnGustav. There are a few inconsistencies in the choice of colours in that template, and variations of camouflage which I have yet to see in photographs, but its a good start.
I have no trouble adding filth to a skin, but the problem is that with most of the pictures I've seen of the Typhoon they all look relatively clean, with the exception of paint fading in sunlight. I tend to see a lot of paint chipping and flaking, around the wing leading edges, the nose and the cockpit.
As far as colours go, I have access to the RCAF museum paint stock, they had the 3 std RAF paint colours there. I took a sample of each and will scan them in later today.
