Yes, in contrast to the Ki-43-I the Ki-43-II had racks for bombs and drop tanks, a more robust wing structure, an armor plate for the pilots head and crude self-sealing fuel tanks. Moreover the telescopic gunsight was replaced with a reflector gunsight.

This is the second production Seafire Mk.46, first flown from South Marston, late 1942. Only 24 of this interim naval mark 46 were built. It was fitted with a 2,375 hp Rolls-Royce Griffon Mk.87 engine with contra-rotating propellers, a cut-down fuselage with all-around vision canopy, a sting hook buried in the rudder, but no folding wings.

Two F8U-2N Crusader aircraft from VF-154 from the USS Coral Sea (CVA-43) . One is hit by small arms fire over Dong Hoi. LT J. A. Terhune was forced too eject when his Crusader jet's engine flamed out 20 miles short of the carrier.

What happened to him, was he rescued? This is Vietnam?

If he was 20 miles from the carrier then he would be "Feet Wet" over water, & picked up by chopper.
What is interesting is that the aircraft is in landing configuration, flaps,hook, undercarriage & the wing is raised.
