12 years agoLevel 3I have DBW 1.4 or 1.41. To get to 1.71 (the Superpack) can I just install 1.71 over top of my current installation, or do I need to patch up from 1.4 to 1.5....
-
Level 1Jude,
Personally, I would build it up each step 1.5 - 1.6 - 1.71 because you can testload each stage, be sure not to miss anything and back it up on a portable drive. The downloads for each stage are a lot smaller too. You should not jump from 1.4 to 1.7.
Updates must be installed in numbered sequence.
Its worth doing because we have some new addon packs coming out that will include a ton of mods. Building on the JSGME DAF Pack, the next evolution is huge!

12 years agoLevel 3Thanks, man. One more question. Should I also update UP to UP3RC4? I never UP, just DBW, so don't know if this is actually necessary.
-
AdminI think you have to update UP for DBW 1.6?
-
Level 1You are right Jim. I also never use UP3RC4, just DBW, but some of the functionality is needed from UP3RC4. Remember to unload everything from JSGME before doing any updates!
-
Level 1I fly mainly online, so UP3.0 is good for now.
I'm wondering though, are there goodies in DBW that add to UP3.0? Or is UP3.0 just the base for DBW? -
Level 1UP 3.0 provides a base on which DBW is built. DBW does contain some mods which UP3.0 doesn't because some mods are not compatible with the unobfuscated code which is contained in the MDS mod (For online dogfight servers) contained in UP3. With DBW meant for offline play, this MDS mod was removed and there for more mods became compatible with it.
@ Jude, DBW 1.7 is a cumulative patch. If you have UP.3 RC4 installed, download DBW 1.7 and it will install and operate just fine -
Level 1From SAS1946.com:
Quick Install Guide For DBW Build 1.7
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Requirements:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~ Working copy of IL2 1946 v 4.101, with UP3, and any UP3 hotfixes and updates, installed and working (at least up to UP3 RC4 or later)
~ DBW Build 1.6, working.
To me, this doesn't indicate a cumulative patch. If so, why is the 1.71 SuperPack so much larger at 2Gb as opposed to build 1.71 at 94Mb? I was into DBW from the start so I haven't tried the Superpack, but each upgrade did insist on the previous stage content.
I don't want to argue with anyone, just like to figure it out.

Level 1Guess that's my mistake then mate, I thougth 1.7 was cumulative. Ah well %)
