It will be similar to the ROF. We will give the tools and templates for skins. You will be able to draw them and see them in the game. But the custom skins will not available in all modes of play, but only in those where they don't affect the gameplay. Details will be later."

i have some experiences with RoF skins but i didn?t like it very much, though it?s by far better than this s*** from CloD

We are preparing a map from east to west length of 360 km (Tatsinskaya - Stupino / Kapustin Yar) and north-south 230 km (Kletskaya - Kotelnikovo). We would like to reproduce the story as accurately as possible, but of course some simplification is possible due to technical limitations.


Much better than the old Stalingrad map in Il-2 1946, but the problem is, that there will be no German airfields outside the Stalingrad pocket on the area of the BoS map after the Red Army takes Tatsinskaya and Morozovskaya in late December. It would be better to extend the map a few kilometers more to the south and west.

A well map covering the stalingrad theatre should include Swerovo, Shachty, Stalino. Maybe Taganrog too, but i dont't know if it is possible to cover these distances with one map. The more airfields inside the pocket the better. Largest and main base was Pitomnik (but without a concrete runway!!). Bassargino, Stalingradsky and Gumrak were much smaller but played their role too.
Of course there should be a late summer/autumn variant as well as a winter map. The battle for stalingrad startet in late august 1942 and ended in early february 1943.

In my opinion it would be enough to expand the map a few kilometers to the west, to include Novocherkassk, Shachty and Zverovo.

Grumpy scrooge here - pay as you download in parts sucks and I won't be doing it.

Il2 still has the tools, the objects, the aircraft, the performance.
The models themselves are being improved all the time and still compare well to CLoD and RoF. Yes, the graphics engine on the new sims has a few new effects.

But beyond graphics, its about Gameplay, Missions you can build yourself, DGEN, and still the best soundset.

In the absence of a new flightsim that gets anywhere near Il2 it is bound to be modified to include more eras and looks set to continue for some time.

In the near future we will be able to select various eras from the pre-game launcher. I like the idea of having the same tools for mission building across what will effectively be 5 different sims.

Chris, you?re talking about a three year old version of the game, it has been updated nearly every month (today patch 29) since you?ve bought it and with the last updates it has become a very good game with - finaly - a decent offline part which i?m enjoying very much - it?s realy not a waste of money, not at all.
