AdminDitto, looking great Jim.
-
Level 1The skins are developing well and this aircraft opens up some really interesting possibilities for an Interdiction and Wild Weasel campaign over the Ho Chi Minh Trail. Misty and YGBSM!
-
AdminNow, that the panel lines on the nose are finished(?), I'll give a go at some of the more elaborate skins.
-
AdminI think I'm happy with the metal layers now. These should only be considered base layers since the real F-100 used different metals and had some painted parts that won't shine like this.
-
AdminOkay, I got Jarink's base metal. Impressive.
I think we have a winner here.
-
AdminWorking on a few more.
-
AdminAfter losing my external HDD with ALL my templates, I had to start all over again, including the Hun.
-
AdminI have been working on getting Jank's metal skin to give the appearance of silver laquer paint that was used on many of the Super Sabres. I hope this works.
Ran into another problem though and I need some help. I am looking for reference photos (Web based would definately help, but not too picky) that shows some closeups of the tops of the wings. I am trying to get an idea of what stencils are there and where they are placed. I have had very little luck.
-
12 years agoMain AdminAs far as I know the top of the wings were devoid of any stenciling, I have a beautiful model of one, and the only markings are the black wing walk lines.
Note how the paint is burnt on the rear fuselage!
Regards Duggy -
AdminThanks duggy. I have found during my research that there seems to be little "standardization between Fighter Wings on how and where to place stencils. Some have crowds of stencils all over the place and others have practically nothing. I also noticed that the cammo versions had (for ovious reasons) all but the absolutely necessary stencils removed. This is to be expected since most production and service acft of loose all those stencils as the acft goes throw it's life cycle of paint and repaint by the units that own them.
