I don't know that particular Mossie HB, but I suspect it was a post War,late production plane. If so painting it in war-time colours is misleading, and even if it was an actual late-war plane repainting it means we can no longer see a "fresh from the factory" plane as it would have been on its delivery flight. In that condition it would have been a tribute to the brave women who flew untried aircraft, often with assembly faults, un-calibrated instruments and non-functioning radios from factory to front line through out the war. Many of these women lost their lives flying blind in poor weather, or though mechanical failure.

looks a lot like a later USA color application. from the 60's and 70's

Mapal, thanks for the links. Interesting history, I wonder why it saw no front-line sevice and what it was used for while civilian registered. Its first civilian use looks too early for it to have been someones personal run-about.
