Avolon, the Dublin-based, global aircraft leasing firm, has firmed up its contract for 15 A330neo aircraft. Avolon became one of the launch customers of the A330neo after signing its initial commitment in July 2014 at the Farnborough International Airshow.
?The A330neo is a sound investment for lessors, who like Avolon are focused on offering their customers the most modern, economic and comfortable aircraft,? said John Leahy, Airbus Chief Operating Officer, Customers. ?The A330neo with its highly competitive economics, in addition to the already flawless credentials of today?s A330, is going to be a real hit with operators around the world in the medium range segment.?

EVERETT, Wash., Dec. 28, 2014 ? Boeing and the U.S. Air Force successfully completed the first flight of the KC-46 tanker test program today. The plane, a Boeing 767-2C, took off from Paine Field, Wash., at 9:29 a.m. (PST) and landed three hours and 32 minutes later at Boeing Field. The aircraft will receive its military systems following certification.

December 29th, four of the Spanish Air Force Eurofighters landed at the airbase of ?mari, Estonia, to join the NATO air defense mission in northern Europe. Aircraft and most of personnel involved in the operation belong to 11th Wing based in Moron de la Frontera.

Main AdminThe first Typhoon in II(AC) Squadron markings was rolled out on Friday (10th) to mark the squadron standing down on Tornado at RAF Marham, and 12(B) Sqn. re-forming in its place on Tornado.
RAF Mildenhall welcomes Bell Boeing CV-22 Ospreys 12-10-2015,although it has been announced the base will be closed shortly, the Ospreys transferring to Germany.
At the same time its been anounced that two squadrons of F-35A's will be based at RAF Lakenheath.(48 aircraft)

Main AdminREDONDO BEACH, Calif. ? Jan. 18, 2015 ? The Japan Ministry of Defense has selected two Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) systems to enhance its intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities.
Under a process known as type selection, the Japanese government chose the E-2D Advanced Hawkeye airborne early warning aircraft and the RQ-4 Global Hawk unmanned aircraft system to help maintain the country's sovereignty.
Type selection identifies the capabilities and systems to be purchased to meet specific defense requirements. Following selection, the U.S. government will be asked to enter into the foreign military sale (FMS) process for these items.
"Northrop Grumman has a long history working with Japan's Air Self-Defense Force and we look forward to continuing that relationship for many years to come," said Mary Petryszyn, vice president for International, Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems. "We are very pleased the Japan Ministry of Defense has expressed confidence in these systems and look forward to working with our U.S. military customers through the FMS process."
Contract terms, timing and quantities of aircraft are yet to be determined and, as such, details are not available at this time.

Airbus has officially launched the A321neo with 97 tonnes Maximum Take Off Weight (MTOW) having secured the first commitment from Air Lease Corporation (ALC). The Los Angeles based lessor signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for 30 more A321neo, upsizing its commitments at the 2014 Farnborough Airshow from 60 to 90 and becoming the launch customer for Airbus? increased range option.
The A321neo 97t will have, with 4,000nm, the longest range of any single aisle airliner available today and tomorrow, making it ideally suited to transatlantic routes and will allow airlines to tap into new long haul markets which were not previously accessible with current single aisle aircraft.

Udvar-H?zy, Air Lease Corporation?s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. ?ALC wants a footprint in every promising market segment, including ones that can be opened by this new version of the A321neo.
