Level 1A few weeks ago, Monty27 came over to A&A and asked us to work on a skin pack for an updated version of his Battle of Britain Campaign. There's a few of us working on several aircraft for the campaign and I thought it might be nice for the first WIP thread on the new site to be for a project that's shared between a few us. Monty asked me to work on some 610 Spitfire Mk Ia's, from Biggin Hill. These feature the much larger codes and some variations in the style of roundel used which could make for an interesting looking formation.
I'll let the other guys tell you about their aircraft, But here's a preview of the Spitfires I have been working on.

Level 1Ooo, this looks good. I love the early-war yellow roundels and big letters. That middle pic shows the skin very nicely. Very crisp.
Is this your own template? Nice work indeed! -
Level 1Thanks Hex, It's a mix of my Mk.I template and Kristorf's Mk.I template. He was kind enough to share his templates with me before he left and I've spent a while trying to get the best look possible for this aircraft

Level 1Yeah, really nice work, Rock.

12 years agoFri Apr 06 2012, 12:37amLevel 1This is wonderful guys, it ain't easy for a grown man to admit these make me misty eyed!
My first DBW BoB Campaign mostly featured No.32 and No.610 Squadron and originally ignored the issue of skins in order to encourage DBW players to take up a scripted campaign and strengthen the baseline for other projects.
Despite a few issues and areas that needed improvement, the reaction to the project was unbelievable, nearly a year later it is still one of the most talked about campaigns at SAS. I don't take any credit, just prepared a solid foundation and supported the work with a lot of discussion about what worked best and what sucked.
Now, having re-written and re-balanced the missions to focus on the best aspects of what worked I wanted to repack it to the highest quality achievable.
When you google quality - the definition should be Axis and Allies Paintworks.
This is the sort of thing I would plan to release:
How about if we start to compile an open list of what we have so far? - and do suggest stuff too, because I am un-ashamed to say that this Special Edition BoB has become much more than what I started, it belongs to you guys too now.

AdminNice, really nice mate.

12 years agoSun Mar 25 2012, 09:16amLevel 4Wow, finally someone gets to the 610 squadron skins. The screenshots looks great! Hope I can get this campaign to work on 4.101 with SAS modact 3.6.
Thanks for all the work guys
Edit: found some info - if needed - in 'Camouflage & Markings, RAF Fighter Command 1936 - 1945' by Gouldings and Jones, Ducimus Books 1970 - 1971. Don't know if its allowed to share these photo's this way, if not please remove them.
Seems that there where quite a few styles in markings. -
AdminNo two markings look the same. Wow! Reading info on the second pic. Never knew that some aircraft did not carry roundels on the bottom.Hm!
